Sharing the crafty love #twitterpassalong

I recently borrowed Issue 16 (January 2012) of "making" magazine from Lisa Rye after she asked if anyone wanted to look at it on Twitter.

Having received it and browsed through it 3 times now, I have picked up some great tips, but realised that the subjects are a bit too "widespread" for me - my heart lies with fabric, sewing, stitching & creating useful but practical gifts.

After receiving Lisa's permission, I asked if anyone wanted to read it, and the lovely Mrs Shilts replied, saying she'd love to read it.

The magazine will be on it's way to her tomorrow, and I hope she enjoys looking at it as much as I did. Whilst the content was too varied for me, the images, the layout and the magazine overall were stunning, and I enjoyed reading it, although I wouldn't immediately subscribe.

I quite like the idea of a #twitterpassalong and am gonig to look out some more magazines, books & patterns over the weekend. I need a bit of a clear out, and I'd rather give it to someone who will appreciate it, and pass it on, rather than see it consigned to the back room of a charity shop.

Just think, if we ALL dig out our unwanted books, magazines and patterns, and #passalong to someone else, that's an amazing way of introducing someone to a new craft, helping them to improve their skills,or giving them the confidence to try something new.

Go on, try it. This weekend, sort through your stash, dig out your old patterns, books & magazines, and take a picture. Advertise the item on Twitter , posting the picture, using the hashtag #twitterpassalong - and let's get swapping!!!
